Online Seminar | An AWESOME talk about the Nile River Basin

We are glad to invite you to the inaugural event of the AWESOME (Managing Water, Ecosystems and Food Across Sectors and Scales in the South Mediterranean) project!

Abstract

Seven partners of excellence - Politecnico di Milano, Athens University of Economics and Business, Yezreel Valley College, University of Haifa, Agrimatic Farms, RWTH Aachen University and Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei – present the inaugural event of the AWESOME (Managing Water, Ecosystems and Food Across Sectors and Scales in the South Mediterranean) project. The project is part of the PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) Programme supported by the European Union, and its main objective is developing a decision-analytic platform based on a multi-level, integrated Water, Energy, Food, Ecosystem (WEFE) model to better understand multi-sectoral WEF trade-offs. The AWESOME project will be briefly introduced by the project coordinator Prof. Andrea Castelletti, while the PRIMA Foundation by Dr. Ali Rhouma, Project Officer.

The core of the event will focus on previous research and expertise on water management along the Nile River, having Dr. Kevin Wheeler (Oxford University) and Dr. Mohie Omar (National Water Research Center in Cairo) as invited speakers and renowned experts of the region.
